Membership

Cineworks provides several tiers of memberships to serve our various members and audiences. While all of our public programming and workshops are accessible to the general public, a Cineworks membership will further subsidize all of our services and a Production membership is required to rent all gear and facilities at discounted rates.


General Member

Cost:
$25 per annum + tax

Criteria:
  1. Must attend an orientation session with Facilities & Equipment Manager.
  2. Must volunteer 8 hours per year.
Benefits:
  1. Discount on fee paying workshops, screenings & salons.
  2. Voting rights at AGM.
  3. Discount to DotEasy Web Hosting & Web design package.
  4. 15% off Kodak Motion Picture Film orders.
  5. Access to AFBS Health care
  6. Free access to bookable meeting spaces at Howe Street (Archives Room & Meeting Room)

Production Member

Cost:
$120 per annum + tax.

Criteria:
  1. Must attend an orientation session with Facilities & Equipment Manager.
  2. Must volunteer 12 hours per year.
Benefits:
  1. 50% off facilities and equipment rentals at Cineworks.
  2. 24 hour access to Howe Street Facilities with facilities rental.
  3. Free access to bookable meeting spaces at Howe Street.
  4. Voting rights at AGM.
  5. Bi-weekly Newsletter.
  6. Discount on fee paying workshops, screenings & salons.
  7. Discount to DotEasy Web Hosting & Web design package.
  8. 15% off Kodak Film Orders.
  9. Access to AFBS Health care.
  10. $50 discount on Front Row Short Shoot Program Insurance.
  11. 50% off Whites Locations Equipment Supply Inc.
  12. Eligible to apply for Telefilm Canada Talent-to-Watch Program through Cineworks (active only after first 1 month as member).
  13. Eligible to submit their films for screening at our monthly Film and Media Showcase with WIFTV and DOCBC.
  14. Access to group membership rate with YWCA Health + Fitness Centre.

The Graduate

Cost:
$60 per annum + tax.

Criteria:
  1. 50% discount on our Production Membership to students who have graduated from a post-secondary institution within the last 6 months.
  2. Must be from an accredited University, Community College, or Film School Program delivered over 12 months or longer.
  3. Requires formal proof of graduation (Student ID with Expiry Date/Convocation Invite/Correspondence from Registrar).
  4. Must attend an orientation session with Facilities & Equipment Manager. Must volunteer 8 hours per year.
Benefits:
  1. Match Production Membership.

The Adjunct

Cost:
$25 + tax for 10 days.

Criteria:
  1. Must have a postal code outside of the Lower Mainland.
Benefits:
  1. Access to Production Membership Benefits for 10 day period.

Note: This membership is not intended for our partnered members with LIFT, CSIF, FAVA, WFG and CINEVIC. Those members have shared access to our production member rates for the duration of their active memberships with their home organization. This is a mutual agreement between our organizations.


Volunteer Membership

Volunteer at 3 workshops and attend 2 screenings and become eligible for a free General Membership.

Volunteer hours must be completed within a 12 month time span.

Mandatory orientation with Facilities & Equipment Manager, and the Volunteer Membership Form must be completed prior to your hours.


Bursary Membership

10 Production Memberships are awarded with waived fees per calendar year on an application basis. Bursary memberships are reserved for those who experience systemic barriers to institutions, low income, or identify as part of a minority.

Candidates must complete a short questionnaire that details their interest in Cineworks to be applicable.

Those who have received a bursary membership for 2 consecutive years are not eligible for a third year but can re-apply the following year.

Payment + Orientation

Orientation is required for those interested in becoming a member. Orientations are currently held every second Tuesday at 5:00pm sharp and go until approximately 6:00pm and must be completed before signing up for membership. Attendance is on a drop-in basis and there is no charge to attend. The orientation consists of a brief overview of Cineworks and its programs as well as a tour of the facilities.

Payment must be made in person, after filling in the below form for review by Cineworks. You will be notified by email when your application has been approved.
